Life Doesn't Ask Permission
“It broke the script. I kept writing.”
Welcome to the honest journey of a husband, father, and co-parent standing in the middle of an unexpected chapter. Not with all the answers, but with raw lessons, heartfelt stories, and the quiet courage to figure it out as we go.

WHAT I WILL WRITE ABOUT:
Becoming
Figuring out who you are and who you want to become through real life transitions.
Life Pivots
The moments when life forces you to change direction without warning or permission.
Grief & Loss
Learning how to keep moving forward when something or someone essential is gone.
Fatherhood
My daily journey, lessons, victories, and vulnerability as an autism dad.
Co-Parenting from a Distance
Navigating presence, connection, and parenting when you aren't always physically there.
Love & Relationships
The beautiful, complicated, frustrating, and hilarious reality of loving people.
And whatever else life decides to throw at me along the way.
This Is Where It Begins
By Justin Lincey • Raw reflections on fatherhood, unscripted life shifts, and navigating personal growth in the open.
Welcome to my personal blog. My name is Justin Lincey, and I’m glad you’re here.
For years, I’ve struggled with this feeling that I’m supposed to help others by sharing my story, my experiences, and the way I see life. I’ve had plenty of reasons for waiting this long to do it. Some of them you’ll learn along the way.
But let me make something clear from the beginning:
“I don’t have all the answers.”
So if you’re here looking for some magical formula that will fix your life, I’d probably leave now.
What I can offer you is something different: my real, unfiltered truth.
The good. The bad. The moments I’m proud of. The moments I wish I could do over. The lessons I learned the hard way. And probably a few things I’m still figuring out.
If you’ve ever watched This Is Us, you know the story doesn’t always move in a straight line. It jumps between the present, the past, and the future. That’s probably the best way to describe how I’ll tell mine.
I have ADHD, and I’ve never been accused of being the most detail-oriented person in the room. I tend to focus on the destination more than the road it takes to get there. Sometimes that has been a strength. Other times… well, let’s just say it has created some interesting life experiences.
“Whatever version of me shows up, you’re going to get the real me.”
And because of that, you’re going to hear a few different voices from me along this journey.
- The Compassionate Guy: Some days, I might sound like your loving grandma sitting beside you on the sofa, rubbing your back while you cry and telling you everything is going to be okay.
- The Real Friend: Other days, I might sound like your no-nonsense best friend looking you dead in the eyes and saying, “Get up. Stop whining. You’ve got work to do.”
- The Convicted Know-It-All: And occasionally, you might get the friend who thinks he knows every single thing.
The truth is, you’ll probably get all three. But whatever version of me shows up, you’re going to get the real me.
This blog is about becoming — becoming the person we’re supposed to be while figuring out who we are along the way.
I don’t know exactly where this journey is going.
And honestly? That’s kind of the point.
So, grab a seat. Let’s see where this takes us..
